“The riches are in the niches - if you try to sell to everyone, you’re not going to make any money.”

Kari Jo Kelso, owner of Kelso & Company, transformed a side-hustle into a thriving business - all because she knows her target demographic. She’s reinvented and rebranded her business, capitalizing on opportunities and staying true to what she knows & loves.

On top of that, she opened up an event space in town - The Small Towner Event Venue. We had the opportunity to visit both businesses a few weeks ago. Kari Jo shared her entrepreneurial story and valuable lessons.

As the students are starting to launch their own businesses, she left us with this important thought:
“There’s so much noise out in the world that people don’t care. If you can tell a story about your business in a way that can capture interest, they’re going to pay more attention to what you do.”

Always a supporter of the program, we appreciate the time and experience Kari Jo shared with us!
