Studies show that plants improve your mental health. With that in mind, self-described optimist Anne Ingersoll aims to help people feel better and be happy - through her floral business, Bloom Macomb.

Bloom is another great example of start-up success from Macomb's Small Business Competition. Anne shared with us her process of getting started and the struggle of finding a location after the competition. She talked about her emphasis on being eco-friendly and community based. Her focus on both of those values is infused in every aspect of the business.

She also walked the entrepreneurs through a brief exercise: where do you see a need in the community that could be a business opportunity? All it takes is a look through our local newspaper, and a little creativity, to get going.

It was a perfect way to spend an unexpectedly snowy morning - surrounded by flowers and plants and the promise of spring. Thanks to Anne for having us!
